Professor Graeme Britton

Graeme Britton brings to Raffles University a unique, industrial and academic experience covering Finland, New Zealand, and Singapore. He has won several professional awards: Walsh Memorial Ward 1970, member of teaching team that won the SME/CASA lead award 1992, and Institution of Mechanical Engineers Outstanding Branch Member Award 1998.

Graeme began his career as an aeronautical engineer for National Airways Corporation of New Zealand (NAC). Graeme started his academic career in 1979 as a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Canterbury, New Zealand. In 1986, he was a visiting Fellow at the Wharton Business School, USA, for 3 months, researching on Interactive Planning and experimentalism.

In 1990 Graeme moved to Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he worked for 16 years. During this time he was Director of the CAD/CAM Laboratory, Assistant HOD Systems Engineering Division, and teaching area leader for engineering management. From 2000-2001 Graeme was a visiting Professor at the Institute of Production Engineering, Tampere University of Technology, Finland. Prior to joining Raffles University, Graeme was Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering at UNSW Asia, Singapore.

Graeme has over 27 years experience conducting applied research in industry, including company-specific projects, national projects, and international collaborative research projects. He is an expert in the design of management and computer-aided systems for engineering companies using systems methodologies and General Graph Theoretic Methods. He has published over 100 refereed articles and book chapters. In 2006, Graeme was awarded the higher doctorate, Doctor of Engineering (by examination), in recognition of his research excellence.
